- Fight
Against Breast Cancer

The long-term survival after treatment of breast cancer depends up on the stage of cancer
at the time of diagnosis. The stage of cancer depends on the following factors.
- Size of the tumor found in the breast. Smaller the size of the breast mass, better the
result of the treatment.
-
Whether the breast cancer cells have spread to the lymph glands under armpit or not. The
results of treatment are better if there is no involvement of the lymph glands.
- Whether or not the breast cancer has spread out of the local region or not. The results
are better if the cancer is not spread at the time of diagnosis.
This means that earlier the cancer is found, the smaller it will be and better the chance
of containing it. Detecting the breast cancer early requires strong commitment
of women who are at the highest risk of development of the cancer. The early detection can
be achieved with
(1) Monthly self breast examination,
(2) Yearly breast x-rays called mammogram and
(3) Enrollment in an early-detection screening program for
you.
